UCM Objectives

  1. To promote vegetarianism and veganism to save the lives of animals and to promote better personal health. [Much current research shows that meat eating can increase the risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer, infectious diseases, obesity, and many more ailments.
  2. To campaign for appropriate and effective animal right laws.
  3. To ban or curtail hunting and fishing in order to preserve and protect wildlife and habitats.
  4. To ban or curtail animal slaughter, poultry farms and sports that are cruel to animals.
  5. To explore ways to sensitize people to the suffering of their human and animal neighbors, and thus, hopefully, compel them to take an active role in helping other beings and protecting them from suffering. This would include encouraging farmers and others who work with domesticated animals to treat their animals with great care and sensitivity.
  6. To establish shelters and clinics for sick and abandoned animals wherever needed.
  7. To spread awareness of environmental issues – including the destructive impact that the animal slaughter and dairy industries have on our environment – and to support programs that help to protect our global environment.
  8. To aid destitute children in rural areas in their education and provide necessary care to the disabled, the sick and the elderly. These would include rehabilitation, vocational training and self-help education for lepers and others who are limited in the work they can do.
  9. To cultivate Altruism through diligent compassionate efforts and to support activities that work towards peace for both humans and animals, and between people of different faiths.
  10. To create media packages and educational materials that promote the ideals and objectives of the Movement and help educate the public.
  11. To organize life-saving support during natural disasters such as earthquakes, drought, floods, etc.
  12. To work for the protection and betterment of animals, humans, and the environment through active campaigns, research, workshops, conferences, seminars.
  13. To visit places of different faiths as a gesture of non-sectarian tolerance, as well as to discuss pressing issues, ideas, and concerns involving human and animal rights and Universal reconciliation.
  14. To network and collaborate with other vegetarian and animal rights organizations around the world in order to expand our reach and increase our collective effectiveness.
