Geshe-la Phelgye Buddhist Institute of Universal Compassion

Come join us at the Buddhist Institute Sunday mornings at 10:00 AM for Meditation and Dharma teachings with Venerable Geshe-la Phelgye where we are currently studying the Dhammapada. We have extra copies on hand for you to use during teaching, however should you wish to purchase your own Tibetan version,  new and used copies are usually available on Amazon.

Geshe-la Phelgye is a Tibetan Buddhist monk with his doctorate in Buddhism. The Geshe degree takes between 17-40 years to obtain, Geshe-la completed his studies in 18 years. After graduating from Sera-Jey, Geshe-la went right into solitude retreat in a cave in the Himalayas for five years.

He was elected by the people to serve in the Tibetan Parliament in Exile alongside H.H. the Dalai Lama. After serving his first term, His Holiness asked Geshe-la to serve yet another term. After retiring from politics in 2011, Geshe-la came to Spokane to teach as the Global Scholar in Residence at Gonzaga University, and is currently a professor at Eastern University.

As always, services at the Buddhist Institute are available at no cost, however donations are warmly appreciated. All are welcome, please arrive a few minutes early to get settled in prior to teaching and meditation.
